Jazzy Seed Potatoes – A Modern, Very High Yielding Salad Potato

Jazzy is a newer second early bred for one thing above all: numbers. A single plant will lift a great many small, even, smooth-skinned tubers rather than a handful of large ones, which makes it a remarkably productive variety for a small plot, a bed or a large container. The skin is smooth and cream, the flesh light yellow and waxy, and the flavour is better than many salad varieties manage. Disease resistance is good across the board.

Key Features:

  • Very High Yield: Produces an unusually large number of small, even tubers per plant.
  • Salad Variety: Waxy light yellow flesh that holds its shape hot or cold.
  • Smooth Skin: Clean, smooth cream skin that needs no peeling.
  • Good Disease Resistance: Robust in the ground, with good all round resistance.

Planting and Growing:

  • Planting Time: Plant between April and May when the soil temperature reaches 8°C.
  • Sowing Depth: Plant 15cm deep, with 30cm between tubers and 60cm between rows.
  • Growing Tips: Well suited to containers and small beds. Keep watered once the tubers begin to form, as the heavy set needs moisture to size up.

Harvesting:

  • Harvest Time: Lift from July through September, around 13-15 weeks after planting. Yellowing foliage is the sign they are ready.

Culinary Uses:

  • Salads: The classic use — firm, waxy and good cold.
  • Boiling: Small tubers cook whole in minutes, skins on.
  • Roasting: Roasts well whole without needing to be cut.

Why Choose Jazzy Seed Potatoes?

Jazzy gives more potatoes per square metre than almost anything else in the range, which makes it the one to grow where space is short. Small, waxy, good to eat and easy to grow, in a bed or a tub.
