Looking for a delicious and reliable broccoli variety that’s easy to grow? Look no further than Sun King F1! With large, tight blue-green heads 15-20cm in diameter, this hybrid variety is heat tolerant and produces an abundance of tender side shoots after harvesting the main head. It’s also easy to grow and matures in approximately 100 days from sowing. Sow under glass or in a prepared bed in full sun from February onwards, spacing plants 30-45cm apart

Growing Broccoli Sun King F1

Sowing

Sow Broccoli Sun King F1 seeds in trays or modules under glass at a temperature of 13°C from February for later sowings, make shallow drills 2cm (3/4″) deep in short rows in a seed bed.

Potting On and Growing As soon as the seedlings show their first pair of leaves, prick off into trays 5cm (2″) apart or thin modules to one seedling per cell. Gradually harden off before planting out, spacing plants 45cm (18in) apart between plants and 45cm (18in) between the rows. For outdoor sowing thin to 7-10cm (3-4in) apart, then lift and transplant plants to their final planting positions once they are 15cm (6in) tall, spaced the same as detailed above.

Harvest Broccoli Sun King F1 from July to September.

Tips All brassicas, including Sung King F1 broccoli, prefer to be planted into firm, fertile ground to produce the best crops. Keep the plants well-watered during very dry weather, especially as heads start to form.
