Grow Virtue Sweet Pepper Seeds – A Compact and Productive Variety for Small Spaces

Virtue Sweet Pepper Seeds are a brand-new variety bred for patio containers and small garden spaces, offering impressive yields on a compact plant. This Capsicum annuum type produces an abundance of blocky, thick-walled fruits, each approximately 10 cm long, ripening from dark green to vibrant red. With the potential to yield over 50 peppers per plant, Virtue Sweet Pepper Seeds are perfect for those looking to grow their own delicious, homegrown produce with ease.

Growing Virtue Sweet Pepper Seeds

Virtue Sweet Pepper Seeds grow much like other sweet peppers, with a few advantages due to their compact habit:

  • Sowing: Start seeds indoors in late winter or early spring. Sow 0.5 cm deep in seed compost and maintain a temperature of 21–24°C for reliable germination.
  • Transplanting: Once seedlings have developed two true leaves and the risk of frost has passed, transplant them into 16 cm pots or larger containers with well-drained compost.
  • Positioning: Place containers in a warm, sheltered location with at least 6–8 hours of sunlight daily to support healthy growth.
  • Support: While naturally compact, plants may benefit from a small stake or support as the fruit load increases.

Care & Maintenance

  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, but avoid waterlogging. Water regularly, particularly during hot, dry weather, to encourage steady fruit production.
  • Feeding: Apply a high-potassium liquid fertiliser every two weeks once flowering begins to promote a strong, healthy crop.
  • Pruning: Remove yellowing or damaged leaves to improve air circulation and keep plants productive.

Harvesting & Storage

Peppers can be picked once they reach full size, but for the sweetest flavour, allow them to fully ripen to red before harvesting. Regular picking encourages continuous fruiting. Fresh peppers can be stored in the fridge for up to a week or frozen for later use.

Culinary Uses

Virtue Sweet Pepper Seeds produce versatile, sweet-tasting peppers that are perfect for fresh salads, roasting, grilling, and stuffing. The vibrant red fruits add colour and crunch to any dish, making them a fantastic ingredient for both raw and cooked recipes
