Bring a Sea of Soothing Blue to Your Garden with Myosotis (Forget-Me-Not) – Blue Ball

Myosotis (Forget-Me-Not) – Blue Ball is a charming, compact variety known for its rich, sky-blue blooms that create a dense carpet of colour in spring and early summer. Its dwarf, bushy growth habit makes it ideal for edging, containers, and underplanting spring bulbs. The nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to pollinators, particularly bees, making it a beautiful and beneficial addition to any garden.

Often associated with remembrance and enduring affection, Forget-Me-Nots are treasured in traditional and cottage garden settings. Blue Ball offers all the classic appeal with the added benefit of compact, tidy growth that’s perfect for modern gardens.

Growing Conditions

Forget-Me-Not Blue Ball thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. It performs beautifully in borders, containers, and mixed flower beds, and is well-suited to wildlife and pollinator-friendly gardens.

Planting Guide

Sowing Indoors: Sow seeds indoors from March to May. Scatter seeds lightly on the surface of moist seed compost and press gently to make good contact. Maintain a temperature of 18–21°C. Germination usually occurs within 7–14 days.
Transplanting: Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots. Harden off before planting outside after the risk of frost has passed.
Direct Sowing: Alternatively, sow seeds directly outdoors from May to July for flowers the following spring. Thin seedlings to allow a final spacing of 15–20 cm apart.

Care & Maintenance

Watering: Keep soil moist, especially during dry spells, but avoid waterlogging.
Feeding: Generally not required. If desired, a light, balanced feed can be applied in early spring.
Deadheading: Regular removal of spent blooms will encourage longer flowering and maintain a tidy appearance.
Overwintering: In colder areas, protect young plants with a light mulch.

Flowering & Cut Flower Tips

Myosotis Blue Ball blooms from April to June. While not typically used for cut flowers, small stems can be added to spring bouquets for a natural, delicate touch. Its early blooms also provide an important nectar source when few other flowers are available.

Garden Impact

This compact Forget-Me-Not adds soft, calming blue tones to beds, borders, and containers while supporting pollinators. It pairs beautifully with spring bulbs, primroses, and other cottage garden favourites.
