Growing Courgette Butterstick F1 from Seed
Sowing Your Seeds
To grow Courgette Butterstick F1 from seed, sow seeds indoors in individual 7.5cm pots from April to May. Sow the seeds on their sides, and plant them 2.5cm deep. Water the pots well and place them in a warm, bright location. The seeds should germinate within 7-14 days.
Once the seedlings have grown to about 10cm tall and have developed their first true leaves, transplant them into larger pots or modules. They should be kept in a warm, bright location until they are ready to be planted outside.
Planting Outdoors
Wait until late May or early June, after the risk of frost has passed, before planting your courgette plants outside. Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil, and space your plants about 60cm apart.
To help your plants thrive, add a layer of compost or well-rotted manure to the soil before planting. Water regularly, but avoid over-watering to prevent fungal diseases. Mulch the soil around the plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Caring for Your Plants
Courgette plants prefer full sun and fertile, well-draining soil. They are fairly easy to care for, but it’s important to keep them well-watered and fed throughout the growing season. Water your plants regularly, especially during dry periods, and feed them every 2-3 weeks with a balanced liquid fertiliser.
Harvesting Your Courgettes
Your courgette plants should begin to produce fruit within 8-10 weeks of planting. The fruits should be picked when they are small and tender, ideally 10-15cm long. To harvest, gently twist the fruit off the plant or cut it off with a sharp knife.
Courgettes are best eaten fresh, but they can als o be used in a wide range of dishes, from stir-fries and salads to soups and stews. Don’t wait any longer to start enjoying your own delicious and nutritious courgettes. Order your Courgette Butterstick F1 seeds today!
