Garlic Rhapsody Wight Seed – (Softneck)

Introduce the vibrant and fresh flavours of Rhapsody Wight® Seed to your garden. This premium Allium sativum (Softneck) variety, known for its early maturity, originates from the village of Cadours in south-west France, historically known as Violet de Cadours.

Key Features:

  • Horticultural Group: Artichoke
  • Origin: South West France
  • Cloves per Bulb: 5 – 12 (estimated)
  • Expected Bulb Size: 50 – 80mm (estimated)
  • Planting Season: September to December
  • Harvest Time: June
  • Flavor Profile: Fresh, zingy flavours perfect for salads

Growing Instructions:

Rhapsody Wight® Garlic thrives in well-drained soil with full sun exposure. Plant the cloves 20-40mm deep, 12 to 15cm apart, in rows 30 to 45cm apart, with the root down and pointed end up. Ensure the soil is kept moist but not waterlogged. As the bulbs swell, they will lift themselves out of the ground, exposing their deep purple streaks and mottling. Harvest in June when the bulbs are fully mature and the leaves start to yellow. Carefully dig under the plants with a fork or spade, lift the garlic, and hang or place in trays in a warm, dry place with good air circulation.

Benefits:

  • Early Harvest: The first true garlic of the season, providing an early taste of fresh garlic.
  • Versatile Culinary Use: Ideal for adding fresh, zingy flavours to salads and other dishes.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: Bright, large bulbs with deep purple streaks and mottling, adding visual interest to your garden.
