Antirrhinum F1 Potomac Lavender – Soft Lavender Spikes for Cutting and Display

Antirrhinum F1 Potomac Lavender is a refined snapdragon with elegant spikes of pastel lavender flowers that open evenly along tall, upright stems. Bred for professional cut-flower use, it combines show-quality colour with strength and uniformity, making it ideal for gardeners who value both structure and subtlety. Each spike holds its shape beautifully, giving weeks of colour and reliable performance.

Growing Conditions

Plant in full sun with moist but well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Potomac snapdragons appreciate good airflow and stable soil moisture to support long, clean stems.

Planting Guide

Sowing Indoors: February to April. Sow lightly pressed onto the surface of moist seed compost at 18–21 °C; do not cover seeds, as light aids germination. Germination usually occurs in 7–14 days.
Transplanting: Move seedlings into pots once true leaves appear. Harden off before planting out after all frost risk has passed.
Direct Sowing: Possible once soil has warmed, though indoor sowing ensures earlier flowering and sturdier stems.
Spacing: 30–35 cm apart to allow space for upright growth and even flower development.

Care & Maintenance

Watering: Maintain consistent moisture, avoiding both drying out and waterlogging.
Feeding: Begin a high-potash feed when the first flower spikes form, repeating every two weeks through the season.
Supporting: Stake early if plants are in exposed positions to protect tall spikes.
Deadheading: Remove spent flower spikes promptly to encourage continuous flowering.

Flowering & Cut Flower Tips

Flowering generally begins in June and continues into early autumn. For cutting, harvest when about one-third of the florets are open for maximum vase life. Place stems immediately in deep, cool water and allow to condition for several hours before arranging.

Garden Impact

Potomac Lavender snapdragons bring soft pastel colour to borders and cutting beds, pairing beautifully with silvers, whites, and soft pinks. Their uniform height and refined spikes create elegant vertical structure while attracting pollinators throughout the flowering season.
